It turns out that former US President Donald Trump apparently asked the Department of Justice to make SNL stop taking the piss out of him.

That’s right, according to The Daily Beast, Donald Trump requested that the Department of Justice and Federal Communications Commission “probe or mitigate SNL, Jimmy Kimmel, and other late-night comedy mischief-makers.”

It appears his beef with comedy shows started back in March 2019, when he took to Twitter after being left unimpressed by an SNL rerun.

“It’s truly incredible that shows like Saturday Night Live, not funny/no talent, can spend all of their time knocking the same person (me), over & over, without so much of a mention of ‘the other side,'” he tweeted.

“Like an advertisement without consequences. Same with Late Night Shows. Should Federal Election Commission and/or FCC look into this?”

A source went on to tell The Daily Beast that Trump reportedly “seemed disappointed to hear that there was no actual legal recourse or anything that the FCC or DOJ could do to punish late-night, anti-Trump comedy.”

Despite the reports, Trump has since issued a statement denying that he was so riled up by his portrayal on SNL that he enquired whether any action could be taken.

“The story that I asked the Department of Justice to go after ratings challenged (without Trump) Saturday Night Live, and other late night losers, is total Fake News,” he said.

“It was fabricated, there were no sources, and yet the Lamestream Media goes with it.”
