Back when Doughnut Time was the sweetest thing, they employed over 500 people, across thirty stores.
Blaming too fast a rise (they only launched in 2015), the company has been forced to shut close to half its stores across the country, killing all but one Sydney location (Newtown is the lone survivor).
“I am accepting the blame. I expanded too quickly,” owner Damian Griffiths told Broadsheet.
“I guess I had too many big ideas and dreams when I started the development of Limes and then expanded Doughnut Time around Australia.”
He has sold the business to the company’s original CEO/MD Dan Strachotta.
Guess that’s what happens when you have glass as a topping option.
