A brand new clip from Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore has taken a very interesting turn, with Dumbledore confessing his feelings to arch-nemesis Grindelwald.

The clip shows the two friends-turned-foes seated together at a diner and Grindelwald can be heard saying, “It was you who said we would reshape the world, it’s what we said we’d do.”

The camera then pans to a close up of Dumbledore’s face and he tells Grindelwald, “Because I was in love with you.”

The scene will come as a shock for some viewers, considering the previous instalment of the franchise Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald follows Dumbledore and Newt Scamander attempting to take down Grindelwald.

Unsurprisingly, fans are reeling over the bombshell, taking to social media to express their disbelief.

“HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!! HE SAYS IT OUT LOUD??? ,” commented one user.

Another added, “I AM LOSING EVERYTHING I CAN’T BELIEVE IT THIS LAST SENTENCE OMFG”.

However, fans who have followed the franchise closely may have caught wind of a breadcrumb author J. K. Rowling dropped back in 2019 in which she revealed the two characters had a “passionate” relationship.

“It [Dumbledore and Gindewald’s relationship] was passionate, and it was a love relationship,” the author said during the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Blu-ray feature. “But as happens in any relationship, gay or straight or whatever label we want to put on it, one never knows really what the other person is feeling. You can’t know, you can believe you know.”

Rowling added” “I’m less interested in the sexual side — though I believe there is a sexual dimension to this relationship — than I am in the sense of the emotions they felt for each other, which ultimately is the most fascinating thing about all human relationships.”

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is scheduled to be released on April 8th, 2022 via Warner Bros.
