The review embargo for ‘Elden Ring’ has just lifted and with the game coming tomorrow, here is every review you should see before playing.

The highly anticipated FromSoftware game, Elden Ring, is now only one day away, and with the review embargo gone early reviews are flooding in with overwhelmingly positive praise for the game.

FromSoftware’s history

FromSoftware has been on the biggest hot streak of any gaming studio putting out their art over the last 13 years. It’s pretty much safe to say that FromSoft absolutely has not missed on a single project since Demon Souls 2009. To prove this point, let’s take a look back at the critical reception of every FromSoftware property that has been made since 2009.

Demon Souls (2009) – 89 Metascore

Dark Souls (2011) – 89 Metascore

Dark  Souls  II (2014) – 91 Metascore

Bloodborne (2015) – 92 Metascore

Dark Souls III (2016) – 89 Metascore

Dark Souls Remastered (2018) – 83 Metascore

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (2019) – 90 Metascore

Demon Souls PS5 (2020) – 92 Metascore (Made by Bluepoint Games)

Elden Ring (2022)- 97 (PS5), 95 (PC), 95 (XBSX) Metascore

With an average Metascore of 90.2 over nine projects put out over only 12 years, it seems like FromSoft has cracked the code. While the Demon Souls remake was made by Bluepoint Games and Elden Ring only has early review scores (44 in total for the PS5 version, all of which are positive), what this studio has done is nonetheless impressive.

Now that the table has been set, let’s get into the topic at hand and delve deeper into the specific reviews for Elden Ring, FromSoft’s first attempt at an open-world game with their patented Souls gameplay.
