Elon Musk takes to Twitter to complain about a strong female lead in Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series.

Elon Musk recently took to Twitter to give his opinion on Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series. His sentiments rang of neck-bearded, Youtube essayist, gamer-gate era rhetoric. The same talking points that have now translated into the contemporary “manosphere” that exists across multiple online platforms and regularly gives rise to misogynistic figures such as the most recent example of Andrew Tate.

Musk’s critique of the series is that it has a female lead who he says is characterized by positive traits that is surrounded by male characters who he thinks are depicted as having negative traits. One could say that the reason he feels attacked is because his worldview is the inverse of his critique. This could be confusing for him as what he sees on the screen doesn’t align with his reality.

All of these vectors of misogyny are characterized by males with insecurities who point their fear toward women in positions of power which they feel threatened by, and Musk is no different.
