The baby who’s taken the world by storm, little ‘X Æ A-12’ has had his name elaborated on by his parents Elon Musk and Grimes, but it still doesn’t make any sense.
First, it was revealed that Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his partner, musician Grimes, decided to name their newborn baby boy ‘X Æ A-12’. At first, everyone believed it to be a joke, but the mother of the child detailed the meaning behind each part of the name…
Then, it was noted that the kid actually couldn’t be named ‘X Æ A-12’ because the state of California doesn’t allow symbols or numbers in a legal name. Now, the parents have elaborated on the kooky name, and it still isn’t ringing any clearer.
In a recent interview with Joe Rogan, Elon Musk elaborated about the name: “It’s just X, the letter X, and the ‘Æ’ is pronounced is Ash,” Elon Musk says. “A-12 is my contribution,” he detailed before giving a shout out to his partner for her “naming abilities”. Then, he went on to explain that ‘A-12’ is simply an ode to his absolute favourite aircraft.
•X, the unknown variable ⚔️
•Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence)
•A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent ?

As many were speculating that the child’s name would be pronounced ‘Ash’, it seems that part of that rumour was true, but we’re not entirely sure if ‘Ash’ will be the end-all nickname, or if he’ll be called ‘X Ash’, or something to the same tune.
Musk was also quick to correct Grimes on her definition of the absolutely ridiculous name, because apparently she got the number of the aircraft that ‘A-12’ represents wrong, as was seen on Twitter.
Either way you look at it, the kid is going to have a tough time growing up with having famous parents, for a start, but saddling him with that name isn’t going to make things easy. Going through school is hard enough with the relentless teasing, even without an absolutely unpronounceable name.
