Ezra Bridger is officially coming to the live-action Ahsoka series and actor Eman Esfandi will be portraying the young rebel.

Ezra Bridger has officially been cast as Eman Esfandi steps into the force-sensitive rebel’s shoes. The young Jedi will be appearing in Ahsoka, which is set to release in 2023.

A leak originally came from writer Jordan Maison of cinelinx before The Hollywood Reporter later confirmed it.

“This is actually a report I’ve been sitting on for a while now. It originally came to me randomly (without any outreach on my part), and I wasn’t able to put more than a single source behind it, so I let it rest. Over the past couple weeks, however, I started hearing the name more and more via various whispers. Today, however, I managed to hear from another source who was adamant about the casting.”

Eman Esfadi is known for roles in movies such as The Inspection and King Richard. According to cinelinx, the role was previously rumoured to be leaning toward Mena Massoud but instead, Esfandi will be picking up the mantle. Ezra Bridger was originally voiced by Taylor Gray in the animated series Star Wars Rebels but Gray will not be returning for the role.

Esfadi, as Bridger, will be making his live-action debut in Ahsoka, who first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars before she made her entrance into live-action in The Mandolrian‘s second season.

Bridger sacrificed himself at the end of Rebels in order to stop Thrawn, with the final scene being Ahsoka picking up Sabine on the planet Lothal in order to go and find him. This will most likely be a plot point that Ahsoka will be entirely based around. If not, it’s likely to feature heavily.

The reporter isn’t sure who will play Thrawn opposite of Ezra but said they heard that Lars Mikkelsen, who voiced Thrawn, could play the baddie in live action.
