Sydney-based artist Anton Pulvirenti has created a series of eerie dystopian drawings that display alternative historical anecdotes, dwelling on pertinent themes such as migration and internment.

The anamorphic figures that occupy the artist’s parallel world, Groomiland, rewrite Pulvirenti’s family history. Through skilful draftmanship, Pulvirenti weaves a tapestry of narratives that provides a fresh insight on the social and political practices that have played out in recent history, and their subsequent impact on present generations.

Groomiland opens at the Dominik Mersch Gallery on Thursday June 5, and runs until Monday July 5.
