In case you clicked without reading the headline, entries are now open for the 65th Sydney Film Festival, which is happening next June.
Last year, over 280 films from 55 countries were screened during the festival, with close to 200,000 people leaving their homes, entering dark cinemas, sitting near strangers, and watching them (the films, not the strangers).
Entries are open to features, documentaries and short films of under 40 minutes.
Past winners include Gillian Armstrong, Jane Campion, and George Miller – who you may recognise as proper, storied film makers. In other words, this is your leg up, so stop dally dallying!
Closing dates are:
31 January 2018 for international productions
28 February 2018 for Australian productions and Dendy Awards for Australian Short Films
23 March 2018 for Documentary Australia Foundation Award.
