ESPN’s “SportsCenter” has swiftly deleted a cringey tweet that referenced the Euphoria season finale that aired last night.

The tweet (and this article) both contain spoilers, so if you haven’t yet seen the season finale of the show, and don’t want to be spoiled, then you should avoid reading any further.

The post in question showed an image of Ashtray lying in a bathtub with a busted up nose. The scene that the image is taken from is when Ash (played by Javon Walton) barricades himself in Fez’s bathroom with numerous guns. The SportsCenter account posted the image along with the caption: “Name an athlete as fearless as this guy”.

The New York Post spotted that the tweet was quickly removed, and reached out to ESPN to find out why.

The now deleted Euphoria tweet by ESPN

“The content posted was not in alignment with ESPN’s brand and we removed it,” they responded.

Depsite it’s removal, the post is still receiving backlash on Twitter.

“can’t believe someone from espn tweeted a pic of ashtray from euphoria who died in a shootout with the cops in the last ep with “name an athlete more fearless than this” while the Klitchko Bros and Lomanchenko are fighting a real war against Russia. Fuckin amazing 😂😂,” one user posted.

“It’s ESPN 😂😂😂 if I want Euphoria material I’ll go to a Euphoria account,” added another.

The season finale of Euphoria aired last night on HBO, and hit a series high rating of 6.6 million viewers – a feat that hasn’t been beaten since Game of Thrones ended in 2019.
