Spoiler alert: Cal Jacobs finally met his demise as he was dragged away in handcuffs in the season finale of Euphoria after his own son dobbed him to the police.
While the exact reason for his arrest wasn’t given, it’s heavily implied that Cal (Eric Dane) was arrested for having sex with minors. His son, Nate, handed over a thumb drive which was insinuated to have footage of his dad sleeping with his underage classmate, Jules.
Throughout both season one and season two of the hit show Euphoria, Cal has committed a number of reprehensible acts, with many centred around his sexual choices. And, despite a storyline that’s essentially condemned his character, Dane has confirmed that there will be “redemption” for Cal in the future.
“There’s gonna be redemption. I mean, that’s the trajectory he’s on. I can’t imagine Cal’s life from solitary confinement. It’s tough to work Cal into the storyline when he’s behind bars,” he told Variety.
How exactly redemption will be achieved for Cal is puzzling, considering his son seemingly handed over video evidence of his father sleeping with a minor. Perhaps even more intriguing, is that Dane also mentioned that he believes there’s a possibility for Nate and Cal to mend their broken relationship.
“I think that’s, in a weird way, what was happening in that scene,” Dane said referring to one of the final scenes in Euphoria season 2 where Nate leads the police to his Dad’s whereabouts and hands over evidence against him.
“He [nate] got a real chance to express himself with how he felt, even with the gun. The gun was his kind of way of saying, “I fucking hate you, Dad, for what you did to me.” He even says, “I’ve always protected you and you fucking hated me for it.” Because Cal felt like a piece of shit. He resented his son for that. But Nate gets a real opportunity to do what I did in the foyer,” Dane said.

Euphoria has been confirmed for season three, however, many reports are speculating that the next installment won’t be out until 2024. So, fans of the show may have a long wait to find out whether Nate and his father will be able to make amends.
