It was the question that split a generation: Team Edward or Team Jacob? At the height of Twilight in the 00s, fans were divided between their preference for the two protagonists of the young adult series, vampire Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson, and werewolf Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner.
It turns out even Taylor’s fiancée used to support the other team. Taylor Dome, who goes by Tay, recently took up the TikTok challenge ‘Show your childhood crush and then the person you ended up with’, and dropped a hilarious revelation.
Initially looking sheepish, Tay then displayed two pictures of Robert as Edward before it quickly changed to snaps of Taylor. I wonder if he knew about her previous affinity for his onscreen rival going into the relationship. Thankfully he found the funny side though, writing, “bout time I won something.”
Taylor and Tay (quite the catchy couple name) publicly confirmed their relationship in 2018, after Taylor’s sister introduced them to each other. The actor then proposed to the registered nurse and social media influencer late last year. They’ve not yet announced when they plan to tie the knot.
After taking an extended break from acting, Taylor returned this year in the Netflix biographical sports comedy Home Team, also starring Kevin James and Rob Schneider.
Inspired by real events, the film follows New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton who coached his teenage son’s football team during a suspension from the NFL. Reviews, it’s fair to say, have been far from positive.
Robert Pattinson’s film career, of course, has went on a much different trajectory than his former Twilight co-star. After suitably impressing in his first outing as the caped crusader, the actor was recently confirmed to play Batman again.
