With the recent casting of Dakota Johnson as Madame Web, detailing the future of Sony’s Spider-Man universe is more important than ever.

Madame Web, who has just been cast in her own live-action film, is a clairvoyant psychic in Marvel comics who started off as the elderly woman Cassandra Webb before passing her powers(and blindness) to Julia Carpenter. In the 90’s animated Spider-Man series she is known as a seamstress who pulls the strings across the spider-verse. With that in mind, as well as Dakota Johnson being tapped to star, we thought it was more relevant than ever to lay out the future of Sony’s cinematic Spider-Man universe.

Morbius

‘Morbius’ is set to release April 1, 2022, and will star Jared Leto as the titular character in what looks to be a vampire flick with deeper ties to the Marvel cinematic universe, giving the trailer’s overt references to the franchise.

Across the Spider-Verse parts one and two

After the massive critical and box office success of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, it’s a no-brainer that a sequel would be in the works. Part 1 is currently set to release on October 7, 2022 and Part 2 is set to arrive sometime in 2023.

Kraven The Hunter

Originally written by Richard Wenk and later rewritten by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, Kraven the Hunter, who will be played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, is set to release on January 13, 2023. The movie is being helmed by J.C. Chandor and will cover the famed hunter who hunts down, shoots, and buries Spider-Man in the comics.

The Sinister Six

After a great deal of turmoil from the cancellation of the Amazing Spider-Man movies to Spider-Man’s eventual MCU reboot, this project is still alive. Amy Pascal said she is currently waiting for Drew Goddard to be ready to direct before moving forward with the project.

Nightwatch

Nightwatch, who strongly resembles a Marvel version of Spawn, has been in talks to get a movie of his own but has gone through a great deal of uncertainty with renowned director Spike Lee once being attached to the film before his departure from the project in October 2018.
