After the events of last night’s Oscars, which saw Will Smith slap Chris Rock in the face, let’s take a look back at other incidents.

An altercation between Chris Rock and Will Smith broke out at the Oscars last night as Will Smith took to the stage after Jada showed her disappointment in Chris Rock’s words.

The event saw host Chris Rock joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, well-publicized battle with alopecia. Rock quipped that he “couldn’t wait” to see the sequel of G.I Jane, seemingly referencing her hair loss.

While the cameras showed Smith laughing about the joke, Pinkett Smith could be seen in the background rolling her eyes and looking unhappy.

The camera then panned back to Rock and he continued his monologue. Seconds later, Rock pauses to say, “Uh oh” and confused sounds can be heard coming from the crowd.

Smith then walked straight up to the host in the middle of the stage and hit him in the face. Rock was left almost speechless in surprise, and repeated the words “Wow”, as Smith headed back to his seat.

Once back in his seat Smith continued his tirade, yelling “Get my wife’s name out of your mouth” a number of times to a very stunned crowd.

Jada Pinkett first revealed her diagnosis of alopecia in 2018 and chose to shave all of her hair off with the help of her daughter in 2021.

It appears this wasn’t the first time Will Smith hit someone in the face. Anthony Mackie told a story about how Will accidentally punched him at Will’s birthday party when the two miscommunicated about whether they were high fiving or hugging.

At an event for Men In Black, Will Smith gave a fan a love tap on the cheek after the fan attempted to kiss Will on the mouth.

Will Smith also allegedly came close to getting into a fight with actor Tommy Davidson when he sprung an unexpected kiss on Jada without rehearsing it before the scene.

“I didn’t know this: You have to rehearse a kiss,” Davidson wrote in his book. “You can’t just spring it on your costar … And I didn’t think it was all that big of a deal.”

Will allegedly approached him on set after the kiss and confronted him, telling Davidson, “I didn’t appreciate that.”

“Will went all gangsta on me, saying what I did was not cool,” Davidson said. “There was a moment there when we might have come to blows. My reactive fight-or-flight instinct was triggered and I could have exploded.”
