The Darlinghurst nightspot and live music venue formerly known as the Exchange Hotel has reopened on its Oxford Street premises as a restaurant and wine bar under the refashioned name, The Exchange.

The Exchange, which shut its doors in July 2015after the impact of the lockout laws and increased interest from investors, had been a thriving supervenue that included rooms like Spectrum, Phoenix and Q Bar. Its popular regular parties included Hot Damn and Teen Spirit.

As part of the renovation, the downstairs area has been refitted to create the already trading Della Hyde cocktail bar, while the upstairs level is now an office space.

It’s clear the new owners of the ground-level Exchange, meanwhile, are looking to attract a different crowd entirely, with a focus on woodfire pizzas, an impressive wine selection and cocktails. Bottled beers are also available.
