As technology forever marches forward, it seems almost expected that most of the big social media platforms will tend towards one giant, similar style of being, intending to give users an easy to use, one-size-fits-all social media experience. Well, it seems that Facebook are adopting another commonly-used feature, with the social giant appearing to be trialling Reddit-style up and downvotes on comments.

As a user recently pointed out on the Facebook subreddit, some people are being given access to Facebook’s new trial of the feature, with up and down arrows appearing beneath some comments.

While other users have chimed in to say that they have also witnessed this new trial, it’s a rather surprising move on Facebook’s part, especially considering Facebook’s resistance to promote negativity by introducing that oft-requested ‘dislike button’.

Reddit’s co-founder Alexis Ohanian seems to have seen the funny side of this whole trial though, noting a couple of months back when it first began to appear for some users that he wished he’d trademarked the name and the concept when he created it.

Considering how often a ‘dislike button’ has been requested over the years, there’s little doubt that this new trial will be a success, so it’s only a matter of time before your opinions about the new Avengers movie are deemed ‘wrong’ and worthy of downvoting by your hordes of friends and followers.
