A recent leak has reported new developments in The Mandalorian Season 3, including the return of a fan favorite from Season 1.

A leak from Making Star Wars has just confirmed that a favorite from Season 1, IG-11, will be returning for Season 3 in a spectacular way. Not only will the hunter droid be returning to The Mandalorian, but the droid will also tie into Grogu getting his Beskar armour in a key way.

This is where the second pivotal piece of information comes in— Grogu acquiring their Beskar armour as a foundling of the Mandalorians. It was reported in the Making Star Wars article that Grogu would be receiving the armour of the Mandalorians but not in the way the other foundlings have.

Imagine a tiny Grogu clad in Beskar on such a small frame, it could look bulky, awkward, and clunky, depending on how it’s done. Instead, it’s reported that the crew thought of a unique way to give Grogu Beskar and bring IG-11 back into the fold with one fell stroke. What’s been leaked is that Grogu will be piloting IG-11 as a mech droid that will be modified with Beskar steel around the droid’s outer shell.

The droid will be controlled by Grogu from the inside and will even act as a Jarvis— giving Grogu data and statistical probabilities on a variety of scenarios, making them a formidable and well-protected duo.

According to the leak, Grogu and IG-11 kick some “serious ass” together as there is apparently a scene where Grogu puts the beatdown on some Stormtroopers while utilizing the Beskar mech suit.

It’s still not confirmed how IG-11 would’ve survived the events that led to their demise at the end of The Mandalorian Season 1 or if the droid will even be IG-11 or another IG unit. The best evidence towards the droid being IG-11 is that Taika Waititi is reported to be returning as the voice via ADR recording during post-production.
