Filming has officially started for the fourth and sadly final season of Killing Eve.
The show’s official Twitter account posted a teasing clip featuring behind-the-scenes footage, confirming that production has begun. “Our lips are sealed. Mostly,” they captioned the tweet succinctly.

Not much is known about the final season – their lips really are mostly sealed – but we do know who the lead writer is: this season is being helmed by Laura Neal, who’s written for Sex Education and My Mad Fat Diary in the past.
She’ll be joined by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Sandra Oh, Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris, Gina Minagacci and Damon Thomas.

One of the strongest legacies of Killing Eve will be having a different female lead writer each season, which kicked off famously with Waller-Bridge leading season one.
She was followed by Emerald Fennell in season two, who went on to win an Oscar for her 2020 film Promising Young Woman, and Suzanne Heathcote in season three. That’s quite the track record for the show.
And if you’re mourning the thought of not getting to see Jodie Comer acting her heart out as assassin Villanelle for much longer, there has been plenty of talk of Killing Eve spinoffs. Again though, no specific details are yet available.
When asked if a movie might even be a possibility in the future, Comer was bullish, as per NME. “I don’t think so,” she said. “I think they’re kind of keeping their options open, like who knows what the future holds.
But for sure the thing I will miss the most is not having to apologise – all the mischief I get away with, there’s something so fun about that. We just want to make sure we end it on a good note that’s satisfying for the audience but is also truthful to the characters.”
Killing Eve is set for release in 2022.
