The final tweet posted to the account of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman has set records for the most liked post in Twitter history.
Fans of the late Marvel actor were shocked at the sudden announcement of his death on Saturday, as he had not spoken publicly about his cancer diagnosis. Tributes are flooding his Twitter page, including one from Barack Obama.
“To be young, gifted, and Black; to use that power to give them heroes to look up to; to do it all while in pain – what a use of his years,” he wrote.
Chadwick came to the White House to work with kids when he was playing Jackie Robinson. You could tell right away that he was blessed. To be young, gifted, and Black; to use that power to give them heroes to look up to; to do it all while in pain – what a use of his years. https://t.co/KazXV1e7l7

Now the weight of all the messages and the power of social media has set a new posthumous record for the star. It’s become the most-liked Tweet ever, which does not necessarily mean that by clicking ‘like’ that fans are happy with the news.
“Fans are coming together on Twitter to celebrate the life of Chadwick Boseman, and the tweet sent from his account last night is now the most liked tweet of all time on Twitter,” the social media company said in a statement.
Twitter has also reinstated the Black Panther hashtag emoji.
“Fans are also working to organize ‘Black Panther’ Twitter watch parties using #BlackPanther and #WakandaForever, so Twitter has turned the original #BlackPanther emoji back on so fans can watch and talk about his legacy together,” Twitter said.

If you’re wondering who previously held the record for the most liked Twitter post, it was Barack Obama with 4.3 million likes. There’s something poetic about this.
