There are plans to introduce Ms Marvel, the first Muslim comic book superhero, into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to boss Kevin Feige.

Ms Marvel debuted in 2014, and was the first Muslim character to get her own comic book.

The comic centres on Kamala Khan, a teenage American Muslim from New Jersey, who discovers she has the useful ability to shapeshift, and becomes a superhero. She took her hero-name from her idol Carol Danvers, who once used the moniker but later took over the name Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel is the latest series to be spun into a film franchise — with Brie Larson as the titular character. Speaking with the BBC, Feige promised that Ms Marvel is next.

“Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works.

“We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world.

You had us at “definitely sort of”.
