Iconic short film festival Flickerfest is set to return this weekend for its 28th year, and they’re kicking things off with a huge Grand Opening Night.
For close to three decades, Flickerfest has served as the most well-known and beloved short film festival in the country, bringing endless joy to countless fans of film in the process. Now, this Friday sees the annual festival return for another ten-day event, something director Bronwyn Kidd describes as “an extravaganza smörgåsbord of short films.”
Featuring over 2,700 entries from all around the world, this year’s festivities are set to be some of the biggest yet. However, it all has to start somewhere, which is where Flickerfest’s Grand Opening Night, Screening & After Party comes into play!
Kicking off on the red carpet at the Bondi Pavillion on Friday evening, the Opening Night Gala features a screening showcasing some of the festival’s highlights, all in the company of some of the most wonderful short film fans around.
Before long, the after party will be in full swing, with Noble Gin cocktails on offer, along with an assortment of beverages from partners Young Henrys, Rosnay Organic Wine, Parkers Organic Juices and Enjoy Water, along with delicious food from Nahji Chu and Doughboy Pizza.
Also celebrating 28 years of ‘Kapowerful Short Films’, attendees will be having the time of their life, dancing the night away to the sounds of DJ Stephen Ferris, all while overlooking the natural beauty of Sydney’s Bondi Beach.
Tickets to the Opening Night Screening & Party are on sale now from Moshtix. For more information about this year’s festivities, be sure to check out the program guide on the Flickerfest website.
