Felix Dean, the former child actor best known for his role as VJ Patterson in Australian soap Home and Away, has been charged over an alleged hammer attack on a Sydney retail worker.

Dean, 24, is accused of attacking a male employee of a tobacconist on Elizabeth Street in Surry Hills at around 11 pm on Monday, October 11th, per The Australian. The employee suffered minor head injuries and was treated by paramedics.

Dean was arrested nearby and taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with affray, assault offenses, shoplifting, being armed with intent to commit an indictable offense, and breach of bail. He was refused bail and faced Central Local Court on Tuesday.

The actor starred as the son to on-screen parents Ryan Kwanten and Ada Nicodemou on Home and Away for seven years, between 2007 and 2014. In 2008 and 2009 he was nominated for Best Young Actor at the Inside Soap Awards.

The stint in the long-running soap opera marked Dean’s last on-screen appearance. In November 2011, he joined the cast of Sam Atwell’s play, Bondi Dreaming, which ran at the Bondi Pavilion until December 3rd 2011.
