Taking to Instagram on Sunday December 7, Frank Turner announced that him and his backing band The Sleeping Souls are settling in to record his new yet-to-be-titled sixth album, a follow up to his 2013 release, Tape Deck Heart

“Very happy to formally announce that The Sleeping Souls and I are starting work on album 6 today with the one and only Butch Walker at the helm. This is going to be special.” Said Turner on Instagram, paired with a photo of all the parties involved.

Butch Walker is confirmed to be producing this album, the frontman for the band Marvelous 3 has worked with a number of high-profile artists including Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Dashboard Confessional, and Pink.

Both Frank Turner and his band The Sleeping Souls have taken heavily to Twitter and Instagram to document the recording process. With Frank Turner revealing small details with every post.

“Aim for this record is to capture the live vibe of me and @_sleepingsouls. Worked on 2 songs so far, both times using 2nd take. Sounds ace!”

“I guess the months (in some cases over a year) of working through these songs is paying off. Feels raw, live, punk. Just what I wanted”

Song names have also been spilled with titles such as Get Better, The Next Storm, and Angel Islington being revealed through Twitter. Turner also confirmed that the band had been working on ‘Old Flames’, a track that was recorded for his 2008 album Love, Ire & Song, but was accidentally deleted in-studio.

Post-album recording, Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls are Australia bound, heading to the country for a show at Bluesfest and a headline tour throughout April. No details have risen yet as to the release date or title of this album.
