As per The Daily Telegraph, court reports detail that Messina opened a door into his former partner’s right foot in March of that year, causing her physical pain.

Four months later, Messina allegedly threw her onto the floor, and also allegedly punched her in the nose, causing to severely bleed. He was also accused of throwing the woman on the floor by her clothes in a separate altercation in July.

Though the incidents happened in 2019, the court heard the victim only mustered up the courage to report them after threats Messina made against her rabbits in February last year.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Ben Bragger said the woman’s delay in reporting the incidents shouldn’t affect her credibility. “In 2022, delay is not a reason to attack credibility,” he said, according to The Sunday Telegraph.

Messina will find out his sentencing this week. Messina’s stint on Farmer Wants a Wife wasn’t without controversy, with claims arising that he was not actually a farmer and was instead a truck driver.
