Jimmy Giggle and his owl pals are hitting the road this March and April.

Much-loved ABC Kids program, Giggle and Hoot, is coming to a stage near you. The tour announcement comes mere months after Jimmy Giggle – aka Jimmy Rees – announced he’d be hanging up his pyjamas after 11 seasons on air.

That’ll have to wait, however, as the upcoming live show will connect with pre-schoolers all over the country. The tour takes in everywhere from Bendigo to Penrith, Wodonga to Wollongong, as well as Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra.

The concert tour follows the announcement of the show’s final episodes

“Touring with Giggle and Hoot has always been my favourite part of the job” said Rees. “Being able to connect with the audience live is such an awesome feeling! I can’t wait to get back on the road, see you soon Australia! Hoot hoot.”

For over a decade, Giggle and Hoot has been ushering in the new day, and later, putting toddlers to sleep. Giggle and his owl pals Hoot and Hootabelle have played and sung together in the Land of Giggle and Hoot every morning on ABC Kids.

In the late afternoon and early evening, Hootable would twinkle-ify the stars while Hoot carried out the Night Watch flight and made sure the viewing toddlers were all tucked up in bed.

The show was first broadcast on June 29, 2009 and stayed on air for a mega 11 seasons. The final season will finish up in the coming months.

“It’s been a really amazing job for me, a journey, whatever you want to call it,” said Rees in the Sydney Morning Herald. “I’m just moving to a different phase of my life.

“But to the public, I’m sure I’ll be Jimmy Giggle for a long while.”
