Twitter has collectively lost its shit after a video has emerged that appears to show Harry Styles spitting on Chris Pine at the Don’t Worry Darling premiere.

In the viral video, the film’s director Olivia Wilde is seated next to Chris Pine and the two are chatting. Styles then walks in and takes the chair next to Pine, but appears to quickly spit at his co-star on the way down. Pine suddenly pauses and an awkward look crosses his face as he mutters something inaudible. Check out the clip below:

Thanks to a Twitter user, you can watch spit-gate in slow motion:

While the alleged spitting is very brief, thousands of social media users are convinced that it occurred.

“What about Chris’ reaction? It’s obvious he’s reacting to something, and very subtly keeping his cool What seems like Harry spitting, Chris’ pause and subsequent reaction…. I don’t know, it seems pretty damning,” one user commented on the video.

Another tweeted, “OMG! I didn’t believe it but I saw it. Just as he’s buttoning his jacket and looking down.”

However, a subsequent video from a different angle seems to show that Styles didn’t, in fact, spit on his co-star.

While it’s unclear where spit-gate is a real thing or not, it’s clear that Pine has an uncomfortable reaction when Styles sits down. This could possibly be related to being seated between Wilde and Styles.

It’s highly speculated that the pair are dating, and while they have never formally confirmed their relationship, they’ve implied that they’re together in a series of interviews.

Because Wilde and Styles haven’t officially confirmed their relationship – paired with Style’s enthusiastic fan base, their potential pairing generates massive amounts of attention whenever they’re spotted together.

Don’t Worry Darling premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival today and is scheduled to be released in Australian theatres on October 6th, 2022.
