Reality TV lovers who have been left high and dry without any trashy dating-related content on their TVs will rejoice in the news that Channel 7’s Heartbreak Island Australia is premiering on August 4th.
The Australian premiere of the New Zealand-created reality show will see 16 contestants staying in a beautiful Fijian resort. The participants won’t just be from Australia either, it will feature a cast of international contestants from Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US.
Much like Love Island, the contestants will pair up with their romantic interests, and complete challenges together. Over the period of the show, “disruptors” (A.KA. hot singles) will be brought into the villa with the aim of breaking up the couples. The winner (or winners?) will take home a cash prize of $100,000.
The show poses the question: “Who is looking for love, who wants to pocket the cash and who is out for revenge?”
Heartbreak Island Australia will be hosted by Clinton Randell, who has previously hosted Masked Singer NZ and Dancing With The Stars NZ.
“I couldn’t wait to start shooting Heartbreak Island Australia, this time with our first-ever global cast. I cheered, laughed, teared up, stirred the pot, threw in a few twists, and made life-long friends. I can’t wait for viewers to see it,” he said.
While Heartbreak Island is likely new to many Aussies, the first season of the O.G. Heartbreak Island New Zealand featured a very recognizable face. Harry Jowsey – who was one of the standout stars on Netflix’s Too Hot To Handle Season one appeared on the show and took out the win.
