This weekend, people from all over the world will be gathering in major cities to recreate in mass the video clip from ‘Wuthering Heights’, Kate Bush’s most-loved debut single.

Sydney is getting involved in the joy, with an event taking place this Saturday at Sydney Park, near the entrance across from St Peters station.

To be involved, simply (f)rock up in your very best red Kate Bush-style gown, and be prepared to”dance freely and merrily, frollicking and bounding across the grasses”, as the official event invite puts it nicely.

The event spawned from an event in Brighton in 2013, where 300 people dressed like Kate, reenacted the clip, and broke a Guinness World Record for ‘Most Kate Bushs’ – which I’m sure was held by Kate herself before this. Since then, the event has occurred annually, with dainty-looking flash-mobs popping up in more and more cities each year.

Check out the Facebook invite for details about time, weather, etc. – as the page notes: “We are not professional organisers, this is a fairly casual, flashmob type event, and you are responsible for yourself and your property. Note there will likely be people photographing and videoing parts of the event, your attendance is your agreement to be filmed.”

So there. Check out the original 2013 ‘experience’ below, as well as Kate’s classic 1978 video.
