If you’re in need of some last-minute stocking stuffers, here are a handful of Xmas 2025 gaming and tech gift ideas.
From LEGO to smart watches, there’s plenty to enjoy.
LEGO Mario Kart + LEGO Minecraft
Price: From $29.99 via LEGO Store
Whether you’re an adult or child everybody loves a bit of LEGO and the brick builders have steadily been building up their video game collection for some time now. Chief among those are the Mario Kart sets –
First up is the Interactive LEGO Mario & Standard Kart – perfect for those already a part of the LEGO Super Mario ecosystem. The good thing about this kit though is that even if you’re not you get the LEGO-fied version of Mario in the box along with an interactive Bob-omb and a Thwomp which will react to Mario’s digital display.
Surprisingly though, I was a fan of the cheaper LEGO Super Mario: Mario Kart – Standard Kart which lets you build one of Mario’s regular kits straight from the game as well as a toad wheel man by your side . It feels more authentic and was quick and easy to build in an afternoon, making it perfect for kids as well.
Love Film & TV?
Get your daily dose of everything happening in music, film and TV in Australia and abroad.
If you’re not a fan of the mustachioed plumber though, why not check out a new Minecraft set instead, and the easy recommendation is the LEGO Minecraft The Creeper. One of the more difficult of the Minecraft sets, you’ve got 665 pieces in the box, I was impressed with the authenticity as well as the sets four movable legs and adjustable head, meaning you can have fun with the creature even after its built.
LEGO is always a safe Christmas bet and this year is no exception.
Google Pixel Watch 4
Price: From $579 via Google Store
If you’ve got an Android user on your Christmas list and you really want to show them some love then you should really consider the Google Pixel Watch 4. The Pixel Watch line-up has been steadily improving for some time now, but this fourth generation is its strongest offering yet and its all thanks to a brand new display.
Google’s Actua 360 display which slightly resembles a teardrop in the middle of the watch face compared to the flatter profile of its predecessors. It sounds like an incredibly minor change but using it you’ll notice a stark difference. Everything just pops out that little bit more and makes reading content a whole lot easier, helped along by 10% more active area for content and a brighter display (3,000 knits). Plus, that’s not even taking into account the more traditional rounded display which I’ve come to greatly prefer over Apple’s squared design.
The battery has also been improved, with up to 40 hours if always-on display is enabled, allowing me to easily clock over two days of usage from a single charge which helps remove some of that battery anxiety from competitor devices.
Yes the fact that there’s another brand new charger is annoying, but it’s the best one yet and a small price to pay for an impressive bit of tech.
Magic the Gathering: Avatar the Last Airbender
Price: From $12.95 via Gamesmen
If you’ve got a gamer in your life and need a flexible Xmas 2025 budget then Magic the Gathering is always an incredibly safe bet. And as luck would have it, the series has just launched its Magic the Gathering: Avatar the Last Airbender range and its another winner.
If you’re looking to introduce somebody to Magic I’d easily recommend the beginner box. Packing in two instant-play decks, two play guides, a rule book, double play mats, life counters and eight themed decks, it’s a hell of a lot of value for under $60 and loads you with everything you need to get started.
For those already well-versed though, the show’s magical nature pairs perfectly with the core Magic experience and the inclusion of bending adds a few new strategies to games as well. Firebending, for example, allows you to utilise time-limited additional mana, while Waterbending grants you the ability to pay for extra special abilities with artefacts or creatures in your deck. With so many elements to draw from it has given the Magic team a lot to tap into and you can clearly see they’re having fun with the source material.
And for those longtime fans of the Avatar show, there’s plenty of card art that plays on famous scenes, characters and locales that’ll likely have you itching to crack open more boosters long after you’ve added them to a loved one’ stocking.
SanDisk Creator Phone SSD with Magsafe 1TB
Price: $259 via JB Hi-Fi
Asking for a hard drive for Christmas might seem like a boring option, but not when it comes to the
That’s because this compact wonder is filled to the brim with features, and during my time with it has been a real surprise from top to bottom. Designed for creating content on the go, the Creator Phone SSD not only starts at a beefy 1TB, but can actually capture content from your phone directly to the drive itself with speeds up to 1000MB/s by utilising USB 3.2 Gen 2. That includes Apple ProRes 4K at 60fps which is truly outstanding and, in my testing, as effortless as it sounds.
Even better though is that the drive also has in-built Magsafe technology, meaning if you happen to be rocking a modern iPhone or even Google’s new Pixel 10 series, you’ll be able to magnetically attach the drive to the back of your device. Add in a pretty swish blue colourway, a silicone shell capable of handling a three-meter drop and IP65 water and dust resistance and you’ve got a pressie idea anybody would be chuffed to open.
Sony INZONE H9 II
Price: $399 via JB Hi-Fi
The number of gaming headphones on the market is absolutely overwhelming, but amongst it all, the Sony Inzone H9 became one of my favourite all-rounders. Now Sony has finally released a follow-up and its safe to say you’ll want to ask Santa for a pair.
It’s instantly clear that the H9 II has borrowed a few design cues from Sony’s own uber-popular WH-1000XM6 and that has led to a slimmer, sleeker unit that ditches both the padded top and flashing lights near the earcups. I wasn’t initially convinced but after a handful of hours was impressed with how lightweight it all feels on the head. What’s more, the updated model is also built around the XM6’s driver unit, allowing it to deliver a clear soundstage that can focus on both distinct footsteps as well as the deep bass from explosions.
The H9 II also solves my largest pet peeve with the original unit by now making the microphone detachable. It’s a simple change but one that immediately removes a great deal of bulk, making them easier to pack away in a bag or drawer. You can even take them out and about in a pinch without anybody thinking giving you a second glance.
The Sony INZONE H9 II by no means a cheap investment, but the Sony INZONE H9 II is a perfect way to treat any PS5 gamer in your life (or yourself)
LASER Retro Gaming Projector
Price: $148 via Harvey Norman
If you’ve been looking to amp up your gaming setup, then it’s worth checking out the LASER Retro Gaming Projector. An all-in-one device, the projector is capable of beaming more than 80+ titles to a blank wall, ceiling, or whatever else you please.
With consoles like SNES, Mega Drive and N64 there’s a great amount of variety on offer, and the fact that it comes with two controllers only sweetens the deal. Sure, the controllers aren’t the comfiest units around and you certainly shouldn’t expect high-def 4K visuals, but considering you can pick the unit up for as low as $149, it’s one hell of an all-in-one deal.
Laser has been trying to step into the gaming space for a while now and it’s done a pretty decent job here. Don’t expect to be using the LASER Retro Gaming Projector as your daily driver, but this is perfect to hook up during the holiday season or for any friend-focused games nights.
GameSir X5s Wireless Mobile Game Controller
Price: $99 via JB Hi-Fi
Gaming on phones has come a hell of a long way since the humble beginnings of Snake, but while the latest iPhone and Android devices can be seen as powerformance powerhouses, they’re still not the comfiest units to hold long-term. That’s why you’ll almost certainly want to ask Santa for the GameSir X5s Wireless Mobile. GameSir X5s
GameSir’s big boon is that by utilising Bluetooth for connectivity instead of a physical USB-C port you can pick and choose what device you use it with. That includes both Android and Apple smartphones, but this nifty device even stretches wide enough for an iPad mini. You needn’t fear of input delay either, turning my time with the X5s things seemed perfectly responsive, making it an easy recommendation.
It even comes packed with multiple grips depending on your device/preference as well as its own hard shell protector, meaning you can throw it in your backpack or travel bag without any concerns at all.
This is my new go-to device for mobile gaming and is an easy recommendation.
