After what seemed like a literal lifetime of waiting (ok, maybe it only since October 2017!!!) everyone’s favourite ’80s nostalgia-fest Stranger Things has finally revealed when season three will be returning to our Netflix screens.
In a cryptic teaser that riffed off recent New Year’s Eve celebrations, it was announced that the whole nine-episode season will drop on July 4th, 2019.
Little else has been unvailed about this highly-anticipated third season except that it takes place in 1985, several months after the climax of season two that once again exposed the town of Hawkins, Indiana to the frightening mysteries of ‘The Upside Down’.
Back in July, fans got a sneak peek of what the third season might hold via the Joe Keery-heavy ‘Starcourt Mall’ featurette which didn’t tell us a whole lot…besides the fact that there’s a new mall in Hawkins.
Other hints have included an episode title teaser which featured such ominous titles such as “Suzie, Do You Copy?” and “The Case of the Missing Lifeguard”.
A number of new cast members have been announced for the upcoming season including Cary Elwes as politician Mayor Kline, Jake Busey as local reporter Bruce, and Maya Hawke as Robin, who will play alongside Keery’s Steve Harrington as an employee at the Starcourt Mall.
What do all these hints mean for the future of Hawkins and our favourite group of pre-teen ragamuffins? Guess we’ll just have to wait until July 4th to find out.
