Hollywood couple Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet are getting a divorce, according to a surprise Instagram post today.
“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding, and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring,” the Aquaman star shared on Instagram.
“And so we share our family news, that we are parting ways in marriage. We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy, but so that, as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.”
Bonet – previously married to rocker Lenny Kravitz – and Momoa have been together for 17 years.
They have two children together, Lola and Nakoa-Wolf.
Bonet’s older daughter, Zoë Kravitz, named her band Lolawolf for her younger siblings.
Momoa addressed the children in his statement: “Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life & our Children,” he wrote.
“Teaching our children what’s possible. Living the prayer. May love prevail.”
Momoa famously told late-night talk show host James Corden that he fell for actor Bonet when she starred on The Cosby Show in the 1980s.
“Ever since I was like, 8 years old and I saw her on the TV, I was like, ‘Mommy, I want that one,’” he said in the 2017 episode.
“I’m like, ‘I’m going to stalk you for the rest of my life and I’m going to get you.’”
The pair secretly married in 2017, but Momoa told Entertainment Tonight he considered them wed long before that.
“You know what, I’ve been married to my wife for 12 years,” he said, referring to the wedding.
“It’s just a gathering of our families and celebrating our love.”
The loved-up couple went viral on several occasions, including when Momoa gave Bonet his jacket at the Golden Globes, and sat through the rest of the ceremony in a tank top.

And when he tracked down and fully restored Bonet’s first car – a 1965 Mustang GT convertible.
Fans are already reacting to the announcement.
“Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet are breaking up… a huge blow for hot people,” tweeted one fan.
“I really loved Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet together….and the Jason Momoa Lenny Kravitz bromance,” posted another.
