Australia made history within the popular Bachelor franchise when they announced Brooke Blurton as the first openly bisexual lead, and cast both men and women as her suitors. Now, it looks as though The Bachelor may be following suit, and casting a bisexual male lead.

Eager eyed fans have picked up a little tidbit suggesting that the next lead may be bi-sexual, too. On the Bachelor Facebook account, a post was uploaded saying that applications were open for “single men and women”.

‘The Bachelor is back with a whole new look for 2022 and we’re looking for single men and women who are looking for the love of their life,’ the teaser reads.

Of course, in former seasons of The Bachelor, the lead has always been male and all the contestants have been female, which is why the “men and women” line is so poignant.

The age gap for potential contestants has significantly widened, too. The ad says that singles between the age of 23 and 40 can audition to be on the show.

Channel 10 haven’t yet officially confirmed that the next Bachelor with be bisexual, but they’ve hinted at the fact.

‘Trying to fit a square peg into a round hole is so 2020. Love is love and we look forward to casting our next Bachelor, whoever they may be,’ a spokesperson said in a statement.

Brooke Blurton’s season wrapped on our screens in November, and the 27 year old ended up giving Darvid Garayeli her final rose. The couple started dating but broke up shortly after.

Garayeli first announed the breakup on January 2nd, in an Instagram story.

“Starting the new year off with an end to a chapter and hopefully the beginning of another,” Garayeli wrote on his Instagram story.

“Unfortunately Brooke and I have parted ways. While we genuinely thought we were each others (sic) person, things change and that’s okay.

Blurton quickly sparred back, with a post saying that Garayeli’s post was “surprising” even though they “definitely agreed to part ways”.

The two have now unfollowed each other on Instagram and Blurton has deleted all the photos that she’d previously posted of them together.
