Joe Rogan is certainly up there with one of the more controversial, famous and influential comedians of all time. His latest comment has reinforced this reputation, in which he’s expressed concern saying “straight white men are not allowed to talk” due to their “privilege”.

The sweeping statement has left listeners outraged, with many pointing out that, considering his wealth, Joe Rogan will be just fine.

Speaking to Joe List on his latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience Rogan told the fellow comedian that the problem is that “you can never be woke enough”.

“You can never be woke enough that’s the problem, it keeps going,” Rogan said.

”It keeps going further and further down the line and if you get to the point where you capitulate and you agree to all these demands it’ll eventually get to where straight white men are not allowed to talk because it’s your privilege to express yourself when other people of colour have been silenced throughout history.”

The statement is, indeed, a ballsy move, considering the repression BIPOC have experienced for centuries, and the opportunities that automatically come hand in hand with being a wealthy white male. However, Rogan is complaining that this privilege will silence him and other white men.

Regardless, Rogan didn’t stop there. He continued to press the subject with List and stressed that he was being completely serious.

“It will be, you’re not allowed to go outside,” he added. “Because so many people were imprisoned for so many…”

After being interrupted with laughter from guests, Rogan continued: “I’m not joking, it really will get there. It’s that crazy.”

Rogan switched his The Joe Rogan Experience episodes from YouTube to Spotify in an exclusive deal in September last year, a move which has been tipped to earn him an estimated US$100 million.

Whether Rogan would have gotten the gig if he weren’t a “straight white man” is a question that’s been raised. Some Twitter users certainly don’t think so, and are outraged by his bold comments.

“Someone tell Joe Rogan he got a $100 million podcast deal, he’s doing just fine unless he lost his PIN,” said comedian Brandie Posey.

“Can Joe Rogan point to one day in American history where straight white men shut the f*** up?”

“If you start the clock in 1787 they’ve had roughly 85,500 opportunities to give it a rest for A DAY, and have never ONCE let the goddamn Earth spin without offering an opinion,” added journalist Elie Mystal.

However, Rogan seems to have a fan in the form of conservative political commentator Tomi Lahren who responded, “Well @joerogan is right, it’s open season on straight white men and y’all need to stop bowing to the mob. Stop apologizing for being straight white men!”
