‘Bad editing’ is a cry that’s often plastered all over some MAFS stars’ social media after they realise that they are the unlucky participant who received the villain edit.
However, as many people argue – how can someone’s actions be blamed on a bad edit if the words actually came out of their mouth?
Turns out, MAFS relationship expert John Aiken agrees with that sentiment, as he disputed that there’s such a thing as a bad edit during an appearance on Nova’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun radio show this morning.
“I’m of the opinion that when you’re, you know, on the show as a participant, Uh, you have a choice as to how you want to, um, speak about yourself and about other people and how you interact,” he said.
He continued, “What we try to do is we hold better behavior to account for at those commitment ceremonies. And if we see, you know, patterns or toxic sort of cycles going on, then we will hold a mirror up to them and try and get them to learn fast.
The new season of Married at First Sight will premiere on Monday, January 30 on Channel 9 and 9Now. So far, two trailers have dropped for the popular reality show.
In the first, a blonde man waits at the altar as his brunette bride walks down the aisle. When they come together the cameras show them turning from black and white into colour. In the second, various brides and grooms from the upcoming season are shown, and one woman tells her groom shes not there “to fuck spiders”.

The upcoming season promises to give viewers the ‘biggest scandal ever’, in the form of a groom calling a bride a c**t behind her back.
Bride Tayla Winter is reportedly paired with groom Hugo Armstrong. A production source has told Daily Mail Australia that the couple started bumping heads when they were made to switch partners as one of the ‘relationship tests’.
Hugo allegedly bum-dialed Tayla and she heard him call her a “nightmare”, amongst other things.
“Tayla heard him calling her a c**t … she felt humiliated,” a production source told Daily Mail Australia.
