Yeah, how’s that for a headline?

On this day of days, mankind has been gifted with the first trailer to one of the most unlikely collaborations since protons and neutrons first combined. The Fanatic, is a film co-written by Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst and stars John Travolta and today we get to see what on earth that looks like.

The answer is: absolutely wild. Even with the brief trailer, it’s obvious that no one involved in this film held back. John Travolta takes on the role of a crazed fan, Moose, who’s obsession with obtaining an autograph sends him on a twisted and bleak path.

The plot synopsis, as per Consequence Of Sound adds a lot of texture to the story, which has been doing the rounds in the zeitgeist for some time now.

Says the synopsis, “When he is cheated out of his opportunity to finally meet Hunter, Moose gets a little help from his friend Leah, a well-connected paparazzi photographer, who knows how to find celebrity homes, Moose turns to stalking to get the celebrity interaction he feels he deserves, and while harmless at first, Moose’s actions begin to take a dark turn as his obsession grows stronger. As the visits continue to escalate, Hunter Dunbar finds himself in increasing danger.”

Legend has it, the story is inspired by a real-life event that happened to Durst, which explains why the famous character is called Hunter Dunbar, which isn’t too far from Durst.

The Fanatic has a release date of August 30th in cinemas as well as Video On Demand. However, it’s unclear which, if any, platform will provide the content in Australia.
