Australian actor and singer Johnny Ruffo has shared an update about his health five years to the day after being diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer.

The 34 year old, who appeared on Home and Away and Dancing with the Stars has taken to Instagram to reveal that he is “still fighting”.

“Exactly 5 years to the day since my diagnosis. Still fighting this son of a bitch 💪🏽💜🧠 #fuckcancer Thanks for all the support,” he wrote alongside a series of photos showing his journey against the devastating disease.

A number of his high-profile friends took to the comments section of the photo to share their well wishes.

“Luv ya mate . Punch on 👊👊👊👊 and smash this !!!!! @johnny_ruffo,” Larry Edmur penned.

“Sending so much love to you Johnny,” Home and Away actor Emily Symons wrote.

It’s the first update Ruffo has shared since April when he appeared on the finale of Dancing with the Stars. He won the show in 2011 and made an inspirational return alongside dance partner Masha Belash for an energetic performance to ‘Business of Love’ by Domino.

Before heading onstage Ruffo told the excited crowd, “I’m really glad to be back performing. I just want to dance again.”

“Great news, the tumour in the right frontal lobe and the brain stem is all stable, everything is great,” he said, explaining his current condition.

In February of this year, the actor told his followers that he was heading in for additional rounds of radiation. He posted a close up photo in which he is wearing a mesh covering over his face to hold his head in place as he receives radiation treatment.

The next photo showed a hospital room with a closed door and a sign that reads, “radiation no entry”. The 33 year old captioned the photo, “Another round of radiation on the cards ☢️ still fighting this mofo!! #fuckcancer”.
