A trailer for Jonah Hill‘s directorial debut mid90s’ has been released. The film is a coming-of-age story about youth, skateboarding and family drama.

The film stars Sunny Suljic (The Killing of a Sacred Deer) a 13-year-old living in 90s Los Angeles who makes friends with the kids that hang around a skate store. His older brother (played by Lucas Hedges, Lady Bird) playing an affable bully.

In an interview with Collider, Hill had this to say:

“It’s sort of like a coming-of-age drama — it’s the most boring elevator pitch in the world, but it takes place in a skateboarding scene in the mid-90s in L.A.” He explained. “Skateboarding’s always been put on screen as a joke or an 80s cowabunga kind of trope, and it’s more in the tone of Kids or This Is England. Those are kind of the movies that I’m influenced by the most.”

Mid90s is set to be released on October 19th. Check out the trailer below:
