Kate Ritchie announced that she was leaving her popular Nova radio drive show last month, much to the dismay of her listeners.
At the time, she cited stress, however, the former actor has opened up more about why she decided to take a break from her commitments.
“It was a really hard decision [to take a break from the show] because I’ve been working since I was an eight-year-old child and I think that I thrive by having a schedule every day,” she said on The Juggling Act podcast.
“I am not good at just sitting with myself. I have done so many great things this year, but it was just time to have confidence in saying, “this is what I need”.”
Ritchie reminded listeners of the podcast that she plans to return to the Nova radio station next year.
“I’m not going anywhere, and I suppose I’m in a very fortunate position that Nova have been completely supportive,” she explained, adding; ‘They are completely supportive and generous with saying, if this is what you need, we want you back in 2023. So go and do it.”
While Ritchie won’t be back on the air this year, she has been working as an actor for a new TV show, after almost a decade away from the industry. The former Home and Away actor has confirmed that she will star in a new Channel 7 mini-series called The Claremont Murders, which airs next year.

The network has said the two-part mini-series, which was filmed in Perth, in about “the disappearance of three young women in Perth in the late 1990s launched a 25-year investigation by the police and one tenacious journalist, all determined to seek justice.”
