Kate Winslet has revealed she “couldn’t stop crying” after being reunited with Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio for the first time in three years.

Speaking to The Guardian, Winslet explained that the pair had until recently been separated due to the ongoing pandemic.

“I’ve known him for half my life! It’s not as if I’ve found myself in New York or he’s been in London and there’s been a chance to have dinner or grab a coffee and a catchup,” she said.

She continued: “We haven’t been able to leave our countries. Like so many friendships globally, we’ve missed each other because of COVID-19.”

“He’s my friend, my really close friend… we’re bonded for life.”

The two first starred together as Jack and Rose in Titanic and played a couple again in 2008’s Revolutionary Road, directed by Winslet’s then-husband Sam Mendes.

Winslet went on to reflect on how young they both were when they filmed Titanic, noting that she “turned 21 on that shoot, and Leo turned 22.”

Meanwhile, she told Rolling Stone earlier this year that the co-stars shared “really graphic” sex tips during the seven months stint they spent shooting together.

“You know, some very, very personal things, asking each other for advice,” she said.

“Not necessarily comparing notes but sort of, ‘No, don’t do it like that, do it like this.’ He’s very good at that. I have to say, a lot of those sexual tips he’s given me have worked. And I know it’s vice versa.”
