Tributes to healthcare workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic have become increasingly commonplace, and now Aussie icon Sharon Strzelecki has paid her dues to those on the frontline in a Kath & Kim kind of way.

Magda Szubanski, who rose to prominence in her role as Strzelecki in the iconic Australian show, has reprised her classic character to create the ‘Iso Dance’ in full netball kit. Noice!

The Iso Dance was shared on Szubanski’s socials, and also stars a stack of frontline healthcare workers from Footscray Hospital, Prahran East Medical Centres, Ambulance Victoria and the Royal Brisbane, and Women’s Hospital.

“Noice, strong, courageous,” she posted, in a classic Kath & Kim reference. “A special Sharon shout out to all our healthcare workers, on the frontline and behind the scenes.

“To paraphrase Sir Elton John: “I know it’s not much, but it’s the best I can do. My gift is my dance and… this one’s for you.”

Magda also put the call out for other healthcare workers to get involved. So if you’re in the health industry, you can send a video of yourself dancing to Magda’s Instagram account for the next edition of the song.

The Iso Dance is accompanied by a musical parody of the song ‘Tainted Love’ by Soft Cell. Of course, Szubanski has altered the words to relate to the coronavirus.

It goes a little something like this:

“Sometimes I feel I’ve got to run away / I’ve got to get away from the bugs you drive into the heart of me / The germs you share seem to go everywhere and I don’t think it’s noice because then I toss and turn and I can’t sleep at night.

“This COVID bug you’ve given /  you even took my PP equipment / take your temperature and go and stand in the hall / COVID bug.”

And we have to admit, it’s noice, it’s different, and its most definitely unusual!

The clip is the second time in the past year that Sharon has returned to our screens (and our hearts), after Szubanski brought her back for a wild Uber Eats commercial in 2019 which also starred Kim Kardashian.
