In Partnership with eBay

Australian entertainer Keiynan Lonsdale is more than a triple threat. He can sing, dance, act and on top of it all, he knows how to dress.

When it comes to fashion, Lonsdale’s approach is anything but conventional. His style is fluid, an ever-evolving blend of influences. “When I get on stage, I love to just exude these different elements from my favourite performers,” he tells Hypebeast.

Since Lonsdale was young, fashion has been a form of self-expression that allows him to connect with the world on his terms. “When I was a kid, my mum would make my costumes, because I really wanted to be on stage, like, every weekend,” he says. “I just wasn’t satisfied with not being in something fabulous.”

Beyond the stage, the actor’s style journey reached a significant moment at fashion’s biggest night of the year, where he wore a dress adorned with 1,500 butterflies. “Getting to wear this dress, getting to attend an event like this, getting to be so playful and bold was life-changing for me.”

He continues: “I’d never gone so far feminine, and after that, I ended up healing a lot of my masculine side. With fashion, it was cool, I felt like the doors opened up. I could play with a lot more ease and a lot more naturally.” This moment epitomised Lonsdale’s belief that fashion is a powerful tool for self-discovery and expression, one that shouldn’t be confined by traditional norms.

His advice for those looking to develop their own personal style is rooted in the same philosophy: embrace the journey, take risks, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. “I’ve worn some crazy things in my time,” he admits. “But it’s all part of the process. I think I’m at my best when I’m not worrying too much about what people think.”

Now, Lonsdale is turning some of his coolest pre-loved wardrobe pieces into re-loved pieces in collaboration with eBay.

With a series of upcoming eBay listings, Lonsdale is promoting a more circular approach to fashion. In a world where production levels have skyrocketed, his decision to resell rather than discard is a conscious effort to combat the wasteful nature of fast fashion. “I’ve always loved dressing up, but I’m also learning to appreciate the value of piecesxthat have a history,” he explains. “If you get something that’s passed down through family or friends, you give it new life. I think that’s pretty cool.”

When talking about his current fashion choices, he adds: “Now for me, it’s about what’s going to last. What do I not just have to throw away, or what has second life value, so if I have kids one day I can give it to them, or I can sell them to someone who will love them just as much on eBay.”

For Lonsdale, using the eBay app to list his pre-loved items is simple. “As an artist, I’m always on the move. It’s cool to have the eBay app. I’ll take quick, nice pictures of the items, pop them in, get the price, fill in the details, get it listed up,” he says. This ease of use encourages a more circular fashion economy, where pieces are worn, cared for, and passed on, rather than discarded.
