Today’s a great day for KFC fans with the news that the fast food chain is bringing back one of its most popular menu items, Original Mashies, for a limited time.
Original Mashies are bite-sized balls of mashed potato that are coated in KFC’s signature herbs and spices. They were first introduced to the menu in 2009 and were a huge hit with customers. However, they were discontinued in 2011.
After years of requests from fans, KFC has decided to bring back Original Mashies and they will be available in stores nationwide from May 16 to June 12.
Original Mashies can be purchased individually or as part of a combo meal. The combo meal includes a six-piece serving of Original Mashies, a side of gravy, and a drink.
KFC is also offering a limited-time only Original Mashies Box. The box includes an Original Fillet Burger, one piece of Original Recipe Chicken, four pieces of Original Mashies, gravy, chips, and a drink.
“We’re always looking to delight KFC fans by introducing tasty new feeds or bringing back fan favourites, which is why for the first time in 12 years, Original Mashies will be available on menus nationwide. After being reintroduced as a test last year to restaurants in Tasmania for a limited time, fans across the country have been vocal in calling for the Original Mashies’ return, but get in quick as you never know when they’ll be back again,” Sally Spriggs, Chief Marketing Officer at KFC Australia said in a statement about the returning menu item.
The news has been welcomed by KFC aficionados, who have celebrated the return of Original Mashies on social media.
