Kim Kardashian made her debut as host on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, and viewers have been left pleasantly surprised at the reality star’s wicked humour.
When it came to poking fun and loved ones – and herself – Kim didn’t pull any punches, with the star roasting everyone from Kanye West, to OJ Simpson, to Kris Jenner.
Referencing her late father Robert Kardashian famously representing OJ Simpson in his murder trial, Kim quipped, “It’s because of him that I met my first black person.
“You want to take a stab in the dark on who it was?
“I know it’s sort of weird to remember the first back person you met but OJ does leave a mark, several or none at all, I still don’t know.”
Poking fun at herself, Kim also joked about her infamous sex tape.
“I know, I’m surprised to see me here too. When they asked I was like, ‘you want me to host, why?’ I haven’t had a movie premiere in a really long time.

“I mean, actually I only had that one movie come out and no-one told me it was even premiering.”
She then took some playful jabs at her family, starting with Kris Jenner’s boyfriend, Corey Gamble.
“No-one could ever call me a gold-digger. Honestly, I’m not even sure how you become one, so I asked my mum’s boyfriend Corey.”
She continued, “I would never tell anyone what they can or can’t do. Remember I’m a Kim, not a Karen. Honestly, with all of the K names, it’s impressive that my mum didn’t pick Karen. I mean, somehow she just knew.
“I don’t know how she saw that one coming and not Caitlyn.”
Former husband Kanye West wasn’t spared either, with Kim adding, “I married the best rapper of all time. Not only that, he’s the richest black man in America. A talented, legit genius who gave me four incredible kids.
“So when I divorced him, you have to know it came down to just one thing: His personality.”
Despite criticism of Kim’s ability to host prior to the show, many later took to social media to praise the star for being a good sport with a sense of humour.
One social media user wrote: “I said I wasn’t gonna watch SNL because I hate people who are famous for no reason but OMG her monologue is excellent!!!! @KimKardashian.”
Another added: “@KimKardashian’s @nbcsnl monologue snatched wigs, hairlines and spinal cords!
Compliments to the chef because this Kardashian-Jenner roast was DELICIOUS!!!”
After the monologue, Kim appeared in a slew of sketches, including one poking fun at sister Kourtney’s frequent PDA’s with boyfriend, Travis Braker.
In the closing scene, Kris Jenner and Khloe Kardashian stood alongside Kim on stage, who thanked her mother and sister for their support.
“And thank you to Kanye and the rest of my family for being such good sports,” she added.
Kim’s successful debut comes after scathing comments made by actress Debra Messing, who slammed the show’s decision to have the star on as host upon the initial announcement.
Messing asked, “Why Kim Kardashian?”
“I mean, I know she is a cultural icon,” Messing continued, “But SNL has hosts, generally, who are performers who are there to promote a film, TV show, or album launch. Am I missing something?”
