King of the Hill co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels are apparently in “hot negotiations” for a revival of the ’00s animated sitcom.
Although the show may have achieved relatively moderate success compared to some of its counterparts, it seems the demand for a reboot is high.
During a recent Reddit AMA, former Kill of the Hill writer Brent Forrester revealed the renewed interest when he answered a question about reviving the series.
“Have you heard any updates as to the possible King of the Hill revival? Aging the cast of characters would be a stroke of genius and practically reinvent the show (in an awesome way!)” a Reddit user wrote.
“I am sure Greg Daniels and Mike Judge will murder me for sharing this but… HELL YES,” Forrester replied.
“They are in hot negotiations to bring back King of the Hill. The Trump administration made it suddenly very relevant again. The characters have all aged 15 years. The project is sooooo good. Okay I’ve said too much,” he concluded.
Well, it’s not clear how happy Daniels and Judge may be about Forrester spilling the beans, but there you have it.

If the revival does indeed go down the road of setting the show 15 years later, it will certainly stand out amongst the majority of animated series’ that present characters as seemingly ageless.
However, questions have already been raised as to how the series, which originally ran from 1997 to 2009, would translate in 2021.
Considering the show is centred around a conservative Texas family, it is unclear if and how politics will play a part.
As reported by Consequence of Sound, the show’s original run covered hot button topics including gun ownership, conspiracy theories and racism.
