Vashti Hughes has written a small show about a local cafe, Kings Cross location Piccolo Bar, and all the characters that have passed through it over the years.
Hughes was pleasantly surprised when the 80-year-old owner of the cafe wanted to have a part in Piccolo Tales. After brushing off a heart attack and triple bypass surgery last year, owner Vittorio and Vashti are now ready to present the piece, which will be a ride through Kings Cross’ turbelent history, from the subculture and heroin scene days right up to the terrors of modern gentrification.
The play will be performed at the Piccolo Bar in Potts Point. Its first show is on Tuesday February 3 – for more information go to this website.
