Despite being in the midst of a global pandemic, nothing, not even an apocalypse can get in the way of Krispy Kreme helping National Doughnut Day take over the nation.

To celebrate against all odds, the fried dough legends at Krispy Kreme have decided to give away 100,000 free Original Glazed doughnuts!

Krispy Kreme Australia retail director, Nicola Steele said, “National Doughnut Day is our absolute favourite day of the year – we love sharing the joy of our famous Original Glazed doughnuts and relish the chance to put a smile on our customers’ faces.”

And according to LAD Biblethe festivity is set to majorly pop off, with Krispy Kreme have prepped to glaze 2,000 doughnuts an hour. Yep, that equals 33 doughnuts a minute.
While we’re all aware of the fact that free food in general is great food, there’s something about grabbing a free Krispy Kreme that just hits different. But unfortunately, there is a bit of a snag. For anyone who’s in Victoria that is.

In a statement released by the company, they revealed that given the current COVID-restrictions in place in Melbourne, free doughnuts will not be flung around Melbourne. At least for now that is.

They said, “Given the current lockdown restrictions in Melbourne, there will be a delay in celebrating National Doughnut Day in Victoria, to ensure Krispy Kreme is adhering to local government advice.”

As per their Instagram post, they’re referring to it as the “National Doughnut Delay”. They said, “Given the unfolding situation, there will be a doughnut giveaway delay in the state of Victoria until Victorians can celebrate safely again.”

However, for the rest of us, to get your free Original Glazed doughnut, all you need to do is pull up to any Krispy Kreme in New South Wales, Western Australia and Queensland. 7-Eleven, BP, Woolworths and Jesters not included.
