Shock jock Kyle Sandilands has revealed he was “high on marijuana” during his heated interview with Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair back in 2013.

Speaking to Tracy Grimshaw on the Kyle and Jackie O on Tuesday morning, Sandilands admitted to the long-standing host that he had been under the influence during the pair’s highly-publicised chat nine years ago.

“Can I admit now? I was very high on marijuana during that interview,” he told Tracy.

A shocked Tracy replied, “Why did you do that? Did you do that specifically for the interview?”

Kyle replied, “I was nervous. And you know, I thought ‘Oh, she’s not gonna like me,'” he replied. “I know it’s illegal. And I’m naughty, but whatever… I was panicked.

“I’ve always watched you and I’ve admired you.”

Touched by the compliment, Tracy replied, “Gosh, Kyle. That’s such a revelation because I wouldn’t have thought that anything made you nervous.

“I mean, I just don’t have that sense of you. I would love to sit down and talk to you about that.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Sandilands also asked Grimshaw who would be taking over her role on A Current Affair.

“Do you know how you’re passing the baton too?” he asked, and when Grimshaw confirmed that she did, Kyle asked her for a hint.

“I can’t possibly give you a hint but you’ll know very soon,” she replied.

Kyle responded by saying that he thinks he already knows who Grimshaw’s replacement will be.

“I feel, I know because I’ve been speaking to Stefanovic about who he’s gonna put on as his, the replacement cohost,” he revealed.

While it’s been speculated that Langdon will take the role, she hasn’t announced her departure from the Today show which she hosts with Karl Stefanovic.

Kyle’s temporary co-host Brittany Hockley chimed, in: “I think it’s Ally Langdon, I’m going to make the call.”

The shock jock spilled the beans and said that Langdon will take Grimshaw’s spot. “Let me just tell everyone, it is Ally Langdon. I don’t mean to bust channel 9’s bubble but when Karl,” he said.

While Grimshaw didn’t confirm the news, she didn’t dispute it either. “So you can confirm that it is Ally?” Kyle asked.

“I can confirm nothing,” she laughed.
