The legendary Lansdowne Hotel reopens tonight with a gig from some of the leading lights of the Sydney music scene.

The group is made up of Elliott Hammond and Michael Tramonte of The Delta Riggs, Thomas and Gideon from The Preatures, Paddy, Seamus and Freddy from Sticky Fingers and guest vocals from the likes of Sam Margin from The Rubens,  Hayley Mary from Jezebels, and many more.

It’s only ten dollars on the door, but first in, best dressed. Doors at 8.

There is a fairly good reason the venue has waited until an hour before doors to announce the lineup.

“We want people to feel that if they don’t make the effort to come to one, if not all of the opening nights, they will be the grandparent in years to come telling the story of missed opportunity to their grandkids,” a spokesperson for The Lansdowne tells us.

If that isn’t enough, they will be doing the same tomorrow night, and Saturday – with one big act playing each night. We’ve seen who it is, and it’s well worth getting along to. They’ll (read: WE WILL) announce each one at 7pm sharp on our Facebook, then you have an hour to get down there. Or, ya know – as the bookers suggest, just turn up:

“The idea of not announcing each night in advance is to say come and take a chance with us, and you’ll see something that only live music can provide.”

Sounds good – it’s nice to think of a scenario where you rock up to a pub and see what bands are playing.
