In the sixty days since the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund launched, organisers have heard from 1,700 women from a variety of occupations, all of whom will be helped by the vital service.

Deadline reports that a wide number of industries “from a hotel cook to a security officer, military, first responders, cosmotologists, farm workers, prison guards, steelworkers, and workers in Silicon Valley” have spoken out about sexual harassment in the workplace.

This week the funding will begin to be dispersed, with administration handled by the National Women’s Law Center.

In addition, Time’s Up have partnered with non-profit StoryCorps to begin documenting the stories of women across all industries and backgrounds, with the aim of creating as historical archive. Jane Fonda, America Ferrera, Shonda Rhimes and Ashley Judd have provided stories, with numerous others to follow.

The defense fund will only help U.S. women, however Deadline notes that similar organisations are currently being formed in various countries around the world.
