In recent years, Parramatta has grown into a hub of cultural activity, boasting some of Sydney’s premier eateries and venues, rivalling the CBD. Just 23 km west of Sydney’s centre, it’s fair to say Parramatta’s unique and distinct identity is becoming a major pull factor, driving inner-west yuppies and hipsters out of their bubbles and into the embracing arms of the west.

This April, a slew of the 2150’s most loved and up and coming venues will be hosting the best in what the area’s live music scene has to offer. In its second year, ‘Live and Local’ will see more than 70 acts from Western Sydney perform five hours of free, non-stop music. Between 1pm to 6pm on the 14th of April, you can catch acts like L-Fresh the Lion, Lil Spacely, B Wise and Pist Idiots throw down and wow audiences in the heart of the growing city.

“With a growing number of live music and entertainment venues across the City, Parramatta is transforming into a thriving hub for live music and visitors, residents and workers are enjoying the benefits,” City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Andrew Wilson said.

“This year, Live and Local will include more artists from Western Sydney and culminate with an exciting program of original live music performances. Everyone should bring their friends, join us to experience all that our local music scene has to offer, and be prepared for a great afternoon out.”

Performances will take place in venues like Centenary Square, the Albion Hotel, Alex & Co, Husk and Vine, Butter Sydney, Burger Project, Bavarian Bier Café, 353 Church Street (formerly Ribs and Rumps Parramatta), Novotel Sydney Parramatta, UNE Sydney and Parramatta’s award-winning small bar Uncle Kurt’s.
